O papel da biblioteca universitária no incentivo à leitura e promoção da cidadania

    The objective of this work is to show as the university library can exceed the limits of the academic space to promote the reading, the access to the information and through this, the knowledge democratization, decisive factor for the full exercise of the citizenship and social inclusion. The Central Library of the UNICAMP has supported activities of extension, specifically of the community of the city and region metropolitan of Campinas. Inside of this perspective, the ¿Itinerante Library was implanted in September of 2004 of the Citizen,¿ whom already it meets in functioning in the Hospital of the Clinics of the Unicamp, giving informacional support to the 4,000 patients and companions/day of the clinic. The project is fruit of a partnership enters the Social Service Ambulatorial of the Hospital of the Clinics and the Central Library of the Unicamp. Daily three scholarship holders lead a mobile bookshelf, with bibliographical material in determined ambulatory. They offer to options of reading for the patients and its companions while they wait clinical attendance. With the consolidation of the project, and ahead of the success of the initiative, she intends yourself to extend the area of performance and for in such a way, to search support and partnerships in the private initiative to increase the picture of scholarship holders, to acquire more mobile bookshelves for the circulation, new bibliographical materials, signatures of magazines and periodicals and to take care of more ambulatory. One expects as resulted of this initiative, to contribute for the improvement and humanization of the hospital attendance, to stimulate the reading habit, the information socialization, promoting a work of partner-cultural action that exceeds the limits of the academic area, integrating university and society in the search of the citizenship.

    O objetivo deste trabalho é mostrar como a biblioteca universitária pode ultrapassar os limites do espaço acadêmico para promover a leitura, o acesso à informação e através desta, a democratização do conhecimento, fator decisivo para o pleno exercício da cidadania e inclusão social. A Biblioteca Central da UNICAMP tem apoiado atividades de extensão, especificamente da comunidade do município e região metropolitana de Campinas. Dentro desta perspectiva, foi implantado em setembro de 2004 a ¿Biblioteca Itinerante do Cidadão, ¿que já se encontra em funcionamento no Hospital das Clínicas da Unicamp, dando suporte informacional aos 4.000 pacientes e acompanhantes/dia do ambulatório. O projeto é fruto de uma parceria entre o Serviço Social Ambulatorial do Hospital das Clínicas e da Biblioteca Central da Unicamp. Diariamente três bolsistas conduzem uma estante móvel, com material bibliográfico em determinados ambulatórios. Eles oferecem opções de leitura para os pacientes e seus acompanhantes enquanto aguardam atendimento clínico. Com a consolidação do projeto, e diante do sucesso da iniciativa, pretende-se ampliar a área de atuação e para tanto, buscar apoio e parcerias na iniciativa privada para aumentar o quadro de bolsistas, adquirir mais estantes móveis para a circulação, novos materiais bibliográficos, assinaturas de revistas e jornais e atender mais ambulatórios.
