    The democratisation of technology and the opening-up of knowledge have made it possible, particularly in the developed countries, for the much-mooted globalisation to become a universal phenomenon. The new paradigms of the information society towards which we hurtle entail new and major challenges in areas that are essential to a country's progress, such as innovation or productivity. Our society is constantly evolving, with an everyday life that is changing all the time and for which we need to have open and accessible knowledge, training and motivation if we wish to prosper. In this context, education and resources allocated are crucial in guaranteeing a free society, which sets its own pace and does not let itself get carried away by an anonymous global current. Education gives us criteria, and makes it possible to combine design and innovation to constantly improve the environment, which is complex, changing and unregulated.

    La democratització de la tecnologia i l'obertura del coneixement estan fent possible, especialment als països desenvolupats, que la globalització tan anunciada sigui ja un fenomen universal. Els nous paradigmes de la societat del coneixement als quais ens veiem abocats impliquen nous i grans reptes en àmbits essenciais per al progrés del país, com són la innovació o la productivitat. La nostra és una societat en evolució constant, amb una quotidianitat fortament canviant i davant la qual requerim un coneixement obert i accessible, formació i motivació per prosperar. En aquest context, l'educació i els recursos que s'hi destinen esdevenen claus per assegurar una societat lliure, que segueixi el seu pas i no es deixi guiar per un corrent global anónim. L'educació dota de criteri i permet lugar disseny i innovació per a la millora continuada de l'entorn, que ara ja és complex, canviant i sense regulació.
