Resumen de Empresaris hotelers i Pacte de Progrés (1999-2003): un enfrontament més enllà de l'ecotaxa

The introduction of a tourist tax known as the «ecotax», levied on stays in tourist accommodation, was posed by the regional government of the Balearic Islands as one way of dealing with the effects of tourism. In this article, the reactions of Balearic hoteliers to the introduction of this tax are examined. According to them, this policy was a serious threat to tourism since it increased holiday costs. An analysis is also made of the tourism context in the Balearics when the «ecotax» was posed, together with the stances taken by the regional and state public authorities.

La implementació de l’impost sobre estades en allotjaments turístics, «l’ecotaxa», a les Balears fou plantejat des del Govern autonòmic com una de les mesures per fer front als impactes derivats de l’activitat turística. En aquest article s’estudien les posicions de l’empresariat hoteler davant la implementació d’aquest impost. El context turístic balear en el qual sorgeix l’impost és també analitzat, així com els plantejaments de les administracions públiques sobre l’impost (tant l’autonòmica com l’estatal).
