Resumen de Apuntes sobre el español en el Uruguay: historia y rasgos caracterizadores

  Analizamos aquí dos aspectos de la historia y caracterización lingüística del Uruguay. Rescatamos, en primer lugar, el aporte indígena que se manifiesta en la actualidad en el español uruguayo solo en la conservación de léxico vinculado con la toponimia y con la flora y la fauna autóctonas. Un repaso por la historia del componente hispano, en segundo lugar, nos sirvió para explicar algunas características del nivel fonético-fonológico, del morfológico y del sintáctico del español actual del Uruguay. También ilustró el uso de las formas de tratamiento pronominales y verbales.

  En el plano fonético-fonológico cabe destacar que el seseo y el yeísmo tuvieron en este territorio diferentes ritmos evolutivos. Los rasgos fonéticos, que hacen del español uruguayo una variedad meridional, llegan al siglo XXI con una distribución social que antaño no tenían. En lo morfológico, se destaca el abandono del diminutivo -illo a favor de -ito. En el uso de formas verbales y pronominales de tratamiento surge el tú con un valor pragmático intermedio entre usted y vos. Dicho pronombre se acompaña, muchas veCes, y de manera diferente de otras zonas tuteantes, con formas verbales voseantes (tú tenés, tú sos, etc.). En el plano sintáctico, presentamos datos sobre las oraciones de relativo no canónicas y las restricciones en el uso del Pretérito Perfecto Compuesto.

  Two aspecto of the history of the Spanish of Uruguay and the current features of this variety are analyzed here. First, the indigenous component is reviewed in so far as it is preserved in current léxicon related to the toponomy and to autochthonous flora and fauna. Second, some linguistic features from the phonetic and phonological, morphological and syntactic levels are studied diachronically. The use of second pronouns such as vos and tú are also addressed here with the verbal forms with which they used to be combined and with the ones that are combined now.

  It is worth noting in the phonological level that seseo and yeísmo have in these latitudes different evolution rhythms. Some phonetic features lead to a classification of the Spanish of Uruguay as a meridian variety; these same features have in the 21st century a new social distribution. The morphology is characterized for the loso of the -illo diminutivo and a progressive expansion of -ito. In the syntactic level, non canonical relative clauses and the restrictions on the use of the Pretérito Perfecto Compuesto were analyzed.

  A historical approach of the address forms of the Spanish of Uruguay sheds light to the fact that tú has in this country, especially in its Capital, a pragmatic value between usted y vos. Tú is frequently used with voseantes verbal forms (as in tú tenés, tú sos); this combination differentiates the Spanish of Uruguay from other arcas where the pronoun tú is used.
