    Maimónides veía la política como el asunto de quién manda y quién obedece y de cómo desmontar la corrupción. Gran conocedor de Aristóteles, desarrolla su pensamiento político más allá de la tradición griega. Vivir entre dos gigantes religiosos y políticos le condujo a reflexionar sobre los conceptos de ¿emet¿, la verdad, y ¿shalom¿, la paz; y sobre la relación entre las creencias religiosas y las cualidades morales que construyen la ciudad. La ciencia de la política se ocupa del gobierno, comenzando por el de la propia vida del individuo. Como médico y rabino tiene en cuenta el cuerpo y el alma, y replantea la relación entre conocimiento y poder.

    Maimonides understood politics to be a matter of who commands and who is to obey these commands, and of how to get rid of corruption. He was thoroughly versed in Aristotle¿s teachings, but then took his political thinking well beyond the limits of the Greek philosophical tradition. Living between two religious and political giants led him to reflect on the concepts of ¿emet¿, truth, and ¿shalom¿, peace, and on the relationship between the religious beliefs and the moral qualities that build a city.
