Resumen de El conocimiento como institución social: la ciencia en la España de Floridablanca

Este artículo reconstruye la modernidad de la idea de ciencia y sus instituciones que patrocinaron los borbones (principalmente Carlos III). Pero, al mismo tiempo, interpreta el significado que el desarraigo social de la ciencia española y la promoción sociopolítica de legistas (manteístas), como José Moñino, Conde de Foridablanca, tuvieron como factores decisivos no sólo a la hora de explicar el fracaso institucional del saber positivo, sino también, el fracaso de la modernización del Estado español durante el siglo XVIII.

This article reconstructs the modernity of the science idea and its institutions that patronized the borbones (mainly Carlos III). But, at the same time, it interprets the meaning that the social uprooting of the Spanish science and the sociopolitical promotion of jurists ("manteístas"), as José Moñino, the Count of Floridablanca, had not only as decisive factors when explaining the institutional failure of the positive knowledge, but also, the failure of the modernization of the Spanish State during the XVIII century.
