Resumen de Iconografía jacobea en la catedral de León: análisis tipológico

En la Catedral de León se conservan numerosas representaciones del Apóstol Santiago, la mayor parte de ellas como peregrino. En esta comunicación se estudian dichas imágenes, analizando su tipología y sus posibles variantes, así como su relación con otras representaciones de temática jacobea presentes en la catedral. Se comprueba que el Apóstol siempre lleva los mismos atributos -libro, sombrero, bordón y zurrón con concha-, y cómo su iconografía apenas sufre modificaciones, excepción hecha de algunos ejemplos de especial interés.

The Cathedral of León preserves numerous representations of Saint James the Greater, most of which depict him as pilgrim. This paper studies these images, analysing their typology and possible variants, as well as their relationship with other representations of "Jacobean" subject-matter also present in the Cathedral. It will be confirmed that the Apostle is always accompanied by the same attributes ¿ book, hat, pilgrim staff and pouch with shell ¿ and that this iconography rarely suffers modifications, with the exception of a few examples of special interest.
