    Estudio de la pintura leonesa relacionada con la catedral de León. Dos etapas. En la primera, gótico internacional, la gran figura es Nicolás Francés, pintor del ámbito parisino, relacionado con los Maestros de Boucicaut, Bedford y Jean Mansel. Es el autor del retablo mayor donde se desarrolla un complejo programa iconográfico. Realizó muchas obras para la catedral durante treinta y cinco o cuarenta años de actividad. En la última etapa del gótico se destaca la presencia de quien llamo "Maestro del Llanto sobre el Cristo Muerto", el "Maestro de Palanquinos" (influenciado por Pedro Berruguete y que quizá se puede identificar con Pedro de Mayorga). Otros pintores menos importantes son el "Maestro de San Erasmo", de quien amplio el catálogo, el "Maestro de la Dormición de la Virgen", etc.

    Study of the Leon painting of the XVth century related to the cathedral of León. Two stages. In the first one, international Gothic, the great figure is Nicolás Francés, painter of the Parisian ambience related to the Master of Boucicaut, Master of Bedford, and Master of Jean Mansel. He is an author of the biggest reredos who develops a complex iconographic program. It realized many works for the cathedral during the thirty five or forty years that his labor activity includes. In the last stage of the Gothic he stands out "Master of the Lamentation of Christ" and the "Master of Palanquinos" (influenced by Pedro Berruguete and that perhaps can identify with Pedro de Mayorga). Other less important painters are "Master of San Erasmo", of whom the catalogue is extended, the "Master of the Death of the Virgin" etc.
