    En esta publicación se pretende poner de manifiesto la utilidad de los Sistemas de Información Geográfica en la vigilancia epidemiológica. Para ello se presenta un caso de aplicación de este sistema en la ciudad de Badajoz.

    Los resultados obtenidos del empleo de estas técnicas, confirman la utilidad de herramientas de información espacial en la vigilancia y control epidemiológico. Estos sistemas de información permiten detectar características espacio-temporales de la propagación de brotes epidémicos, que pasan inadvertidos en la información globalizada.

    The objective of this project is being able to develop a tool that we permit to analyze epidemiologic information with maximum detail level. This tool will be very useful for epidemic studies; it will be able to detect the distribution of these variables in the urban environment of Badajoz.

    The process allows project the data referred to the postal addresses of the patients on the sections census, it is known as ¿georreferenciación¿.

    The use of this tool confirms its utility and control in the epidemic vigilance. These systems of information let look out spatial and temporal characteristics of the propagation of epidemic outbreaks, which aren¿t appreciated in the global information.
