Temporary emigration to France (some 8.000 individuals annually) originates from the zones mentioned above. Permanent emigration (lasting more than one year) originates from widely diffused areas throughout the province territory, especially that involving emigration to France.
ranada's population is one of the principal protagonists of the massive Spanish emigration to its European neighbors. This phenomenon is unequally distributed within the province. There are four areas representing the key emigrating zones. They arc Montes-Vega. the Baza plateau, the area north of the Lecrin Valley and Motril. In all, fourteen municipalities contribute more than half of all emigrants in the province.
