Archaeology of death is an archaeological research field which stems from the so called Anglo-American processual archaeology of the 1960s. It focuses on funerary practices of human societies and, by extension, on the impact of death on the members of such communities. In the following paper our aim is to undertake a short review of the fundamental theoretical and methodological concepts in this field of study. Without these concepts the understanding of the existing various interpretative trends would be, in our opinion, very complicated.
