La intervención militar romana en Mallorca (123-122 aC) y la planificación de la explotación económica y el asentamiento de colonos supusieron un cambio profundo en la historia de la isla. En el presente artículo analizamos algunos de los factores que motivaron la conquista romana, así como la planificación ortogonal que evidencian las excavaciones de Pollentia y elementos de una parcelación catastral en el ager de Mallorca, que corroboran un asentamiento colonial de notable intensidad y alcance.

The Roman military intervention in Majorca (123-122 BC) and the planning of the economic exploitation and the establishment of settlers supposed a deep change in the history of the island. In this present paper we analyze some of the factors that motivated the Roman conquest, as well as the orthogonal planning that demonstrate the excavations of Pollentia and some elements of a cadastral plot in the Majorcan ager, which corroborate a considerable and far reaching colonial settlement
