Las universidades españolas y el proceso de la construcción del Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior. Limitaciones y perspectivas de cambio

    En este artículo se pretende mostrar las nuevas perspectivas que ofrece la creación del Espacio Europeo de la Educación Superior en la Universidad española, tendente a superar los problemas y retos que tienen planteados en la actualidad las universidades.

    Tras un análisis de la evolución reciente de la universidad española, en cuestiones como la autonomía y la financiación, el texto expone y analiza, de forma somera, las consecuencias que supone el proceso creciente de europeización de la universidad española mediante la construcción del Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior. A partir de este nuevo espacio común, la universidad española, puede afrontar en mejor disposición los desafíos que se derivan para las universidades los dos grandes rasgos que definen nuestra actualidad, la globalización y la sociedad del conocimiento. Ante este desafío, se examinan las oportunidades que para ello ofrece la creación de un espacio común europeo de educación superior en torno a la calidad, la movilidad, la innovación y la investigación. Se considera igualmente que en este proceso de convergencia está implícito el grado de autonomía y las estructuras flexibles y dinámicas que adoptarán las universidades españolas para no desatender este tiempo complejo de cambio y renovación.

    What this article tries to show, are the new perspectives offered by the creation of the European Space for Higher Education in the Spanish University, which tend to overcome the different problems and challenges that the Spanish University is currently facing. After having analyzed the recent evolution concerning the Spanish University - especially regarding its autonomy and fundings-, this article briefly shows the consequences obtained from the recent process of Europeization of the Spanish University through the construction of the European Space for Higher Education. Coming from this newly created common space, the Spanish University is able to confront, under better circumstances, the many challenges that derive from our days, namely globalization and the knowledge society. Due to these challenges, opportunities offered by the creation of a common European Space for Higher Education regarding quality, mobility, innovation and research, are analyzed. It is also taken into account that, in this convergence process, the autonomy degree as well as the dynamics of today's Spanish Universities problematic structures will adopt in order to meet the future challenges and innovations of the whole process.
