As a consequence of the highway improvement plan for the intersection between the roads from Logroño to Elciego and Lapuebla Labarca, 1 km south pf Laguardia in Alava, in 1996 a Roman site was uncovered. Its excavation in 1998 comes within the urgent intervention plan prior to highway works. The results were, from an archaeological viewpoint, highly satisfactory, having recorded the existence of a previously unknown Roman pottery, and probably in use during the first centuries of the Roman plantation in the mid Ebro valley. The pottery works, excavated over an area of 450 m2, consisted of a kiln in a good state of conservation, and foundation remains of several adjoining service areas related to the industrial activity.
