    Christianity in democracy. The minium contents of Christianity in a pluralist social order. Social moral order and community moral autonomy [ JORGE DEL PICÓ] A current focal point of debate, and one which is specially interesting for those who uphold Christian Democratic approaches, is the relationship between the political action of Christians, the sphere of faith and the freedom recognised in the democratic society, which is pluralist from a political, religious and cultural standpoint. And it is precisely this pluralism that is calling for minimum levels of coexistence to be a defined, in the form of a politically-shared social moral order, as a base for constitutional order. In this context, where community arguments come into play, the author calls for the specificity and the presence of the message of Christian humanism, and far from proposing conclusions, he puts forth eleven Christian roots to initiate the contemporary debate in the framework of a plural society. These proposals, focused on the respect for human life, address the considerations of death, of diseases and technological progress, the man-environment relationship, the culture of responsibility and community-based education for life, amongst other issues.

    [ JORGE DEL PICÓ] Actualment és objecte de debat, especialment interessant per als qui sostenen plantejaments demòcratacristians, la relació entre l'acció política dels cristians, l'àmbit de la fe i la llibertat reconeguda en la societat democràtica, que és pluralista des d'un punt de vista politic, religiós i cultural. Precisament aquest pluralisme reclama que es fixin clarament uns minims de convivència, en la forma d'un ordre moral social que sigui compartit políticament, com a base de l'ordre constitucional. En aquest context, on es palesen arguments de caire comunitarista, l'autor reivindica l'especificitat i la presència del missatge de l'humanisme cristià, i lluny d'exposar conclusions, addueix onze propostes d'arrel cristiana per tal d'encetar el debat contemporani en el marc d'una societat plural. Aquestes propostes, centrades en el respecte de la vida humana, versen sobre la consideració de la mort, de les malalties i dels avenços tecnològics, sobre la relació home-entorn, sobre la cultura de la responsabilitat i sobre l'educació per a la vida en comunitat, entre d'altres matèries.
