    L 'economia social de mercat i la democrcicia cristiana [EUGENIO M. RECIO] En aquest article es recorden els origens de l'economia social de mercat (ESM), per subratllar els aspectes originals que van fer d'aquest sistema d'organitzaciò socioeconòmica una de les aportacions més valuoses de la Uniò Demòcrata Cristiana (CDU) a la reconstrucció alemanya de la postguerra. Al llarg del treball es precisa el concepte d'ESM, els seus fonaments ideològics, els seus condicionants per a una política econòmica coherent amb el sistema i algunes de les seves aplicacions en contextos diferents de l'alemany. L'autor ha parat una atenciò particular a delimitar les relaciona de l'ESM amb el neoliberalisme de l'Escola de Friburg, tot subratllant la importància de la llibertat en l'exercici de l'activitat econòmica i la manera d'integrar-la en un sistema on es respectin els drets de tots els ciutadans, atenent particularment els que es trobin en situacions de precarietat.

    The Social Market Economy and Christian Democracy [ EUGENIO M. RECIO] This article recalls the origins of Social Market Economy (SME), underlining the original aspects which made this system of socioeconomic organisation one of the most valuable contributions of German Christian Democracy (CDU) in the post-war reconstruction. This paper defines the concept of SME, its ideological foundations, its drive towards an economic policy consistent with the system, and some of its applications in different contexts. The author pays special attention to defining the relationship between the SME and the Neoliberalism of the Friburg School, underscoring the importance of freedom in the exercise of economic activity and how it is integrated in a system respecting the rights of all citizens, particularly addressing those who live in precarious situations.
