  • As a continuation of the project presented in 1995 aimed at recovering and re-evaluating the old ruins of Gazteluzar Fort, the I archaeological excavation campaign was initiated in mid- 1999. The most notable results were centred around the identification of the original ground plan of the castle, the interior rooms and their typical outlines and features. This data was complemented by the discovered remains of material fundamentally related to military weaponry: arms of different calibre, cannon ramrods, spurs, coins, etc., corresponding to the time of the construction of the castle and to subsequent periods of temporary occupation.
