The Lezetxiki site has provided several novelties from the 2000 excavation season. Amongst these, special significance can be given to the find of a fragment of bright red polished shell, probably used as a necklace or as beadwork by people who abandoned or lost it at the bottom of level III (Barandiarán sequence). At the same time, the systematic sampling work continues, both at the south end of the tunnel as such and at the reduced locus II.
