El Fuerte, Iruña Okan (Iruña Oka) = El Fuerte en Nanclares de la Oca (Iruña de Oca)

  • Prompted by the existence of a development project that was going to affect the archaeological site of El Fuerte, an archaeological investigation was carried out in which a total of 5 pit deposits were located and excavated along with a level of occupation dating from the Eneolithic era. Experts were also able to confirm the existence of a fortified enclosure in the area and trace its defensive structure by excavating part of its network of drainage canals. Thanks to a study of the materials discovered during these excavations, we can date the use of the enclosure to the contemporary era, presumably in relation to the wars fought during the first half of the 19 th century.
