For the fourth consecutive season the search for Early Palaeolithic material has continued at the Irikaitz site. The opening up of the so-called south quadrant (12 metres squared) and its excavation down to the base of level IV has uncovered a total of over two hundred lithic remains. Although these remains include unworked blades, nodules and hammers, a group of artefacts have also been found which may be characterised in more techno-typological terms.
