Following the excavation work carried out during 1999 and 1999 on the belfr y of Santa María la Real Church in the Zarautz Tower site, this year archaeologists focused their attention on the inside of the church itself. During this third season, a series of religious buildings have been found inside the church, one of which, dating back to the pre foundational era, is linked to a cemetery documented during the first two seasons. The series has now been enriched with new findings. Similarly, a stable settlement dating from the Roman era has also been uncovered, along with a large number of materials associated with the constructive structures. This cultural facies is located in a chronological arch stretching from the 1st to the 4th centuries AD. The site is currently being excavated and since work is not due to finish until June 2002, this report should be taken as a partial outline of the results obtained so far.
