  • This year’s season marks the resumption of the excavation work on the Palaeolithic site in Aitzbitarte III cave, which was interrupted in 1997. This year, we have continued work around the entrance to the cave, in an area with numerous hearths, where three levels had been excavated previously revealing a few Magdalenian remains and several more from the Solutrean period. This year excavators focused on the Gravettian and Aurignacian levels.
