    • Emmanuel Mounier: His impact on political thinking [TONI COMÍN] Emmanuel Mounier constructs his personalist philosophical project confronting the great ideologies of modernness, liberalism, socialism and fascism, which are tragically showing their limitations in the 20th Century. On the basis of a Christian-inspired anthropology, Mounier constructs a vision of the human being respecting the tension between the material and spiritual dimension, and within the latter, also respecting the tension between freedom and the community-oriented vocation. In this anthropology, Mounier will found a political philosophy that will lead him to show his radical opposition to capitalism and the liberal critique of the political options of Christian democracy; and to establish a dialogue with Marxist thought and the Communist movement. One of the fundamental characteristics of Mounier's thought ¿and of personalism in general¿ will be the attempt to never detach social and political analysis and transformation from ethical and spiritual analysis and transformation. Thus, one of the most famous personalist slogans will be: «The economic revolution will be moral, or it will not happen; the ethical revolution will be economic, or it will not happen.» Mounier holds that Christianity in the 20th Century must understand that incarnation is historically born of commitment to the oppressed masses and the victims of social injustice.
