  • The problem of modern man [RÉMI BRAGUE] The famous French philosopher, Rémi Brage, offers his point of view about Charles Taylor's book Sources of the self. In his opinion, the analisys of the modern self that makes the canadian philosopher lacks a reference to one of the most important periods of the Western Thougth, that is, the Medieval Ages. This lack limits Taylor's conception of modernity and prevents him from understanding its parasitical nature. Because modernity is incapable of creating anything new and can only take its force, or its appearance of force, from the periods and ways of life it aims to disintegrate.
