    • State history and the state of the history [JAUME OLIVER] Last June, the report of the Spanish Real Academia de la Historia on the history teaching in the Spanish non-university educational centers, raised and old polemic about the relation between history and politics, specially nationalist politics. In this article, historian Jaume Oliver reviews the controversy and the arguments presented by both sides. He concludes that in xxi century, we should be able to separate history and politics. New politics does not need history as it did in the past, and history has never needed politics but a much more professional approach and a serious debate about the way we investigate and teach it.
