  • Secession and (Constitutional) Democracy [WAYNE NORMAN] The moral evaluation of secession is now a small boom-industry in political philosophy. In this paper, professor Wayne Norman argues that secession follows from, or is compatible with, democracy if we can specify a reasonable procedure for secession within a just, democratic and constitutional order. In concrete, he asks a simple question: is it appropriate for there to be a secession clause in the constitution of a democratic state?
