  • The Sixth Continent [JOSEP-ANTONI PLANA] The sixth continent is the name the author gives to the new unified word that emerges due to the information technologies. This article, then, gives an aproach to the historical roots of the information age and it explains some of its consequences. The most important characteristic of the new information society is that it changes dramatically the parameters by which we defined space and time. Due to information networks and digital technology geographical limits become less important which has many implications in the future economy, political administration, environement, etc.
