  • Resumen
    • The Spanish Policy of Linguistics [ALBERT BRANCHADELL] This article has a double aim. First of all, it tries to describe The Spanish policy of linguistics from 1978 until nowadays and, secondly, it also wants to deal with the perspective of change suffered during the last few years, a question which obviously has much to do with the suggestions of change proposed by the political actors.

Regarding the first question, this article states three highly significant characteristics of the Spanish policy of linguistics. The Castilian monolinguism of the central authorities, the restrictive interpretation of the officiality of all those languages which are not the Castilian into the autonomous regions and the lack of state involvement in the promotion of all of them. Moreover, the author considers that some interesting movements occurred lastly denote certain changes although, the possibility of a complete turnaround of the Spanish policy of linguistics is not very clear. In fact, the transformation of this policy, meaning the end of the constants mentioned all through the article, does not seem to be a priority for any political party.
