In the winter of 1938, Enrique Jardiel Poncela devoted all of his energies to making a series of comedy shorts known as "Celuloides cómicos." Given that Jardiel had limited financial backing and that the films were of doubtful commercial value, we can only assume that this was a personal project designed to affirm Jardiel's own philosophies about comedy, but numerous aspects of the project have yet to be clarified.
