  • The start of renovation work on the stretch of the wall in the town of Salvatierra located behind the town hall gave rise to an archaeological study that aimed to revise and up date the results obtained during the overall analysis of the wall carried out by Ondare C.B. in 1993. The results show the high level of alternation suffered by the wall in this zone. Only the scarce remains corresponding to one of the quadrangular towers that reinforced the corners of the medieval wall can now be considered part of the original construction. The rest form part of reconstructions carried out much later, sometimes re-using part of the original material. These modifications give the construction its modern-day appearance, which is more reminiscent of an angled rampart with sloped walls, typical of modern fortresses.
