Resumen de Eusebi Colomer: el diàleg transhistòric

Francesc Torralba Roselló

  • Eusebi Colomer: the transhistorical dialogue [FRANCESC TORRALBA ROSELLÓ] In other countries of more philosofical tradition, the exhaustive and prolific work by professor Eusebi Colomer (1924-1997) would have received a much higher consideration as well as an infinitely superior spreading. That is why it is an obligation or even a necessity to talk about his philosofical work as well as about his service to the country and to the Church, for Eusebi Colomer was one of those men who, without making a fuss of it, build a country. He was, rather than a philosopher, a good man, a commited christian, an open Catalan, an evidence of fidelity and autenticity.

Apart from being an excellent professor and historian of the occidental thought, the author regards Eusebi Colomer as one of his personal teachers, in the most strict sense of the term teacher and so he glosses him in the figure. Glossing a teacher is much more than describing the surface of an object, it is an interior work which implies looking into oneself and extract the memories, the teachings from a person which are now a part of the deepest interiority. More over, the art of glossing, as Xènius would say, our glosser par excellence, does not allow the improvisation, but it requires time and capacity of synthesizing.

The author also takes advantage of this occasion to remark on some new items in the work by Colomer and to reintroduce some texts which show his thought and his view of the world. The best way of glossing a thinker is allowing him to express himself throughout his writings and, in Colomer's case there is a lot of work to chose.
