En 1974 publiqué un libro titulado El Ecosistema Informativo en el que se planteaba la interacción, casi biológica, entre los medios de comunicación y su contexto social, en una mutua reciprocidad. Era la primera vez que se utilizaba el término de ecosistema para aplicarlos al mundo de la comunicación. Si las noticias brotan de la realidad de los hechos, al ser devueltas como informaciones a las audiencias receptoras se produce un doble proceso rompedor y reconstructor de la imagen de ese entorno social, del que salen y al que vuelven las noticias. La presente comunicación recuerda la definición de noticias, de sus elementos conformadores, del ciclo vital que va desde el acontecimiento al hecho noticioso, el mensaje, y el producto. El hecho nuevo que caracteriza estos primeros años del siglo XXI es la sustitución del ecosistema informativo mediático por otro distinto, la emergente Sociedad de la Información, formada por dos ejes antitéticos; el vertebrado, de la red mediática y el invertebrado configurado por todos los demás actores sociales, dando lugar a un habitat que denomino como postperiodístico.

In 1974, I published a book called "El Ecosistema Informativo" where I implanted the interaction, almost biological, between the Medias and its social context, in a reciprocal way. It was the first time that the term environment was used in the communication world. If news grow from reality facts, when they are returned as information to the receiver audience a double process break through and reconstructive of the image of that social environment from where news come aut and come back takes place. 140 The present communication re minds new's desfinition, of its main components, of the "vital eyde" that goce from the event to the news worthy event, the message and the product. The new fact that characterize the first years of XXI century, is the substitution of the informative by a different one, the emergent society of information, formed up by two opposite axis, the vertebrate of the media network, the invertebrate formed by all the rest social actors, creating post journalism.
