Resumen de De la crítica literària a Espanya

Jordi Gràcia García

  • This essay attempts to highlight some of the characteristics of present-day literary criticism in Spain: its social invisibility and public inoperability, the measured tone (rather muttered and descriptive), the absence of a strong dose of moral commitment on the part of the critics. It seems to be a profession closer to the supplying of information than to the debate of ideas and positions, and possibly the same can be said of contemporary essayists. The uncertain professionalization of this field may be behind these characteristics inasmuch as it blurs the line between the personality of the critic and his or her more strictly journalistic function
