Tradición e innovación en las capillas catedralicias españolas: las "Constituciones" de 1766 de la Capilla de Música de la Catedral de Málaga y su vigencia en el primer tercio del siglo XIX

    Durante los siglos XVIII y XIX se redactaron en la Catedral de Málaga tres Constituciones (1719, 1766 y 1802), que se ocupaban sobre todo de los deberes de los músicos en las celebraciones extracatedralicias y que reglamentaban aspectos como quién debía dirigir al conjunto en estas actuaciones, qué obras debían interpretarse, cuándo debían ensayarse estas obras, qué plantilla podía emplearse en su interpretación y cuánto debían cobrar los músicos por su trabajo en estas funciones. En mi opinión, las últimas Constituciones redactadas (1802) no llegaron a entrar en vigor y durante los años 1800-1836 la Capilla continuó rigiéndose por las Constituciones de 1766. En esta comunicación expondré los motivos de esta continuidad, evaluaré cómo afectó a las actuaciones extracatedralicias del conjunto y aclararé qué puntos de las Constituciones de 1766 fueron modificados durante la etapa 1800-1836 y porqué.

    During the XVIII and XIX centuries three Constitutions were drawn up in the Cathedral of Malaga in the years 1719, 1766, and 1802. They were mainly dedicated to the duties of the musicians during extra-cathedral activities and they regulated aspects like who was to conduct the group on those occasions, what works were to be interpreted, when those works were to be rehearsed, what staff was required to interpret them and how much the musicians were to be paid for their work during those functions. In my opinion, the last of the Constitutions written in 1802 never came into force and during the years 1800 to 1836 the Chapel continued to abide by the 1766 Constitutions. In this communication I shall expound upon the motives behind that continuity and I shall evaluate how it affected the group's activities outside the Cathedral and I shall explain what articles in the 1766 Constitutions were modified during the period 1800-1836 and why.
