  • Resumen
    • Formation flying is a new technological breakthrough for future space missions. It will improve considerably the performance of space missions in the science and observation areas. Already, several European agencies have selected formation flying missions to validate the necessary technologies and to propose ambitious science missions. Alcatel Alenia Space has been a pioneer in this field, starting with the Darwin concept in 2000, a science project dedicated to the detection of life on planets outside our solar system, which would be out of reach without formation flying. Since then, Alcatel Alenia Space engineers have been working to promote new applications and develop new techniques in guidance, navigation and control, and sensors and actuators, with the objective of winning a leading role in future formation missions.
