Resumen de Las edades del hombre y las utopías: del pensamiento mítico al lógico

En este artículo el autor analiza varios arquetipos nacidos del pensamiento mítico y que surgen del modelo de las edades del hombre, que presuponen un deterioro progresivo de la humanidad hasta su destrucción y la formación de una nueva raza de algún modo inferior a la anterior. Junto con este arquetipo se da el del buen salvaje, que ve al hombre primitivo, cercano a la naturaleza como el depositario de las bondades y virtudes que la cultura y la civilización le irán despojando. Frente a estas visiones que glorifican el pasado, se va desarrollando un pensamiento contrario a la concepción mítica del mundo, que se basa en la idea opuesta, el progreso, y que desembocará en el Positivismo, teoría que aún ejerce su influencia en el imaginario colectivo del siglo XXI, sin que su contraria se haya suprimido.

In this article, the author analyzes some archetypes that stem from mythic thought and come from the paradigm represented By the Ages of Man; they presuppose a progressive deterioration of Mankind up to its destruction and the formation of a new race in some ways inferior to the one that preceded it. Together with this archetype we find that of the Noble Savage, that sees primitive man close to Nature as the depositary of goodness and virtue, qualities that culture and civilization will gradually strip from him. Facing these conceptions that glorify Man¿s past, a way of thinking, contrary to the mythic conception of the world, developed based on the opposite idea of progress. This will lead to Positivism, a theory that even today exerts its influence in the collective mind of people in the 21st Century, even though the other idea still persists.
