In this paper we present a biogeographical analysis of the herpethological biota of the Balearics and Pityusics. Baleaphyne muletensis, Laeerta (Podareis) lilfordi and Laeerta (Podareis) pityusensis are considered as palaeoendemics and, plausibly, they colonized our islands during the Messinian. AH the remaining species of the present day herpethological biota must have inmigrated to Balearics and Pityusics due to the intervention of mano
