    El filósofo y economista John Stuart Mll (1806-1873) dedicó parte de su obra a la problemática de la mujer, abogando por su igualdad y libertad en condiciones equiparables al hombre. Para combatir lo que Mill consideraba un freno al progreso de la humanidad, publicó en 1869 su emblemática obra "feminista": La Esclavitud Femenina. En ella recogió propuestas igualitaristas de carácter innovador (igualdad y libertad, mejora en la educación, sufragio, revisión de la legislación matrimonial,...) y críticas demoledoras a la situación vigente, pero Mill también sucumbió a algunos elementos conservadores típicamente victorianos. De la trayecoria feminista de este autor, no podemos excluir la colaboración intelectual y vital con su eposa Harriet Taylor.

    The philosopher and economist John Stuart Mill (1806-1873) devoted part of his creation to the specific troubles of women, fighting to get equality and liberty in same conditions as men had. In order to finish with which Mill looked as a brake for human progress, he published in 1869 his well-known feminsit book: The Subjection of Women. I took innovator equalitarist propositions (equality and liberty, improvement in education, enfrachisement, new marital laws. ...) and subversive critics against ruling situation of women: but, in the other side, Mill also fell to some conservative victorian thoughts. Along his feminist evolution, it must not be forgotten his intelectual and vital collaboration with his wife, Harriet Taylor.
