Theme and title of utmost attraction. Ms Rodríguez Izquierdo tries toapproach and bring us closer to a worrying phenomenon in the Spanish Educational System; "the role of the woman in the text books". Because the reality is that our society continues to live in a system of values and social relationships which, based on an androcentred vision, takes everyt-hing masculine as a basis for all experiences. It's true that declarationsfrom UNESCO, the new legislation with regards to the woman, the LOGSE (Spanish Education Act) and of course the feminist movements are creating a stimulating awareness in Spain; however this reality is taking a longtime in arriving to classrooms, and to the texts, where the sexism of booksand the systematic forgetting of the existence and fundamental role of thewoman in society, is permanent.
