    A través de un análisis de los escritos teóricos de Carpentier y de su narrativa, como reflejo de esas ideas, se define la estética original del novelista y su más claro mensaje: el latinoamericano debe imponerse la tarea de descubrir la verdadera dimensión, particularmente espiritual, de su continente y comprenderse a sí mismo; mientras el europeo debe (re) descubrir el ya viejo Nuevo Mundo.

    Through an analysis of the theoretical writings of Carpentier and of his narrative, which reflects those theories, We will define the novelist's original aesthetic and his clearest message: the Latin American must take on the task of dicovering the true dimensión, particulary the spiritual, of his continent in order to understand himself; while the European must (re)discover the already oíd New World.
