    La ciencia cumple, con Galileo y Descartes, la misión hermenéutica de explicar el caos desde la razón matemática. Desde esta perspectiva radical, la estética y la fantasía quedan expulsadas del ámbito del conocimiento. En respuesta a esta concepción escribe Vico la Ciencta Nueva, concluyendo que frente a la verdad universal científica se levanta la verdad supraindividual estética, siendo la inquietante relación entre lo eterno y lo efímero el escenario de la razón poética.

    Science accomplishes with Galilei and Descartes the hermeneutical task of explaining chaos accordingly to mathematical reason. From this radical point of view, both aesthetics and fantasy found themselves out of the limits of knowledge. With the view of this particular conception, Vico writes precisely the New Science, where heends to concluding that in front of the universal scientific true there is also a supra-individual aesthetical true. These two types of true disclose the disturbing relationship between the eternal and the ephemeral, the stage set where the poetical reason seems to play.
