The natural weathering of the bottom ash from MSWI for an estimated period of two to three months before their final disposal, or their eventual utilization is the method more used in the treatment of bottom ash, due to its low investment and operating cost. Carbonation and oxidation are some of the reactions that may ocurr in the aging of bottom ash, which provide a chemical stability, decreasing the solubility of many elements and consequently decreasing its release. The aim of this paper is to determine the natural weathering effects on the behavior leaching of MSWI bottom ash as a function of time and experimental conditions. The relationship between pH values obtained in the natural weathering of MSWI bottom ash and the leaching behavior of the most important heavy metals has been established
