The authoress analyzes the topics and narrative procedures utilized by Diodorus in the description of the battle of Mantinea. Without denying Ephorus' presence in this chapter, traces of Diodorus' historiographic activity and the influence of Rhetoric are clear in this portrait of Epamonindas.
