• The authors analyse the battle dispositions in Diodorus' Library if History. These descriptions are considered as a narrative element characteristically used to introduce the narration proper. This is probably a consequence of a certain tendency in former Historiography, but in is obvius that Diodorus did not simply draw on his sources.
