y The aim of the present study is to investigate the linguistic possibilities which the Latin system posses sed to distinguish between the different parts of the day in ancient times. We present numerical series ofhorae and vigiliae which function as nomenclatures and we stucture the different terms included in the lexematic paradigm of dies, due to their sharing of the same temporality.
