The steady exploitation of the Baetican quarries ceased through the third century. The reduction of the output was directly linked to the fall of the marble consumption. This fall was so strong that the market had enough during the fourth and fifth centuries with the marble cut many years ago and the sporadic explotation, on a small scale, of some quarries.
