Este artículo gira alrededor de Holly Golightly, la protagonista de la novela corta de Truman Capote, Desayuno en Tiffany’s (1958). En este sentido, explora su radical libertad, su autonomía, su condición de personaje hecho a sí mismo, así como su conexión con precedentes literarios (Sally Bowles, Emma Bovary, Jay Gatsby...). De igual modo intento mostrar las diferencias entre dicha novela y la película de Blake Edwards (1961).

This paper deals with Holly Golightly, the protagonist of Truman Capote’s short novel Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1958). In accordance with it, the article explores the sense of her strong freedom and independence, her self-made character in a way. It also studies her connection with literary forebears as Sally Bowles, Emma Bovary and Jay Gatsby. Likewise I try to show the differences between the novel and the movie of Blake Edwards (1961).
