    Este artículo trata de presentar argumentos a favor de la historicidad de Atenión, el primero de los tiranos filopónticos de Atenas en el 88 a.C. Aunque Posidonio lo describe con numerosos aspectos tópicos de la imagen negativa de la tiranía, existen una serie de datos importantes ~i ie avalan la credibilidad de este autor como fuente para la historia de la Atenas de la época.

    This paper tries to present arguments in favour of the historical authenticity of Athenion, the first pro-Pontic tyrant of Athens in 88 B.C. Although Poseidonius describes him with many topoi of the negative image of the tyranny, there are important aspects that support this author's credibility as a source for the history of Athens in this time.
