Resumen de Effect of Postexercise Alcohol Consumption on Serum Testosterone: Brief Overview of Testosterone, Resistance Exercise, and Alcohol

Jakob L. Vingren, William J. Kraemer

  • While only a few studies have directly examined the effect of postexercise alcohol intoxication on the testosterone response to resistance exercise, it appears that alcohol intoxication interferes with the testosterone response to resistance exercise workouts. Testosterone is heavily involved with the muscle hypertrophy induced by training programs that utilize progressive resistance training, and this long-term adaptation seems to play an important part in how testosterone is affected.
