  • Resumen
    • This paper deals with the question who the Chorus are talking about in the second stasimon. Laius, Iocaste, or even Oedipus himself have been suggested, but the most conclusive solution was introduced by Sidwell: the Chorus take over Oedipus delusion that a band of insurgents conspires to seize his power. This paper adduces further evidence and argument in order to strengthen Sidwells point of view. Understood in this way, the stasimon is in line with the humble attitude of the Chorus, and the otherwise incomprehensible allusions to the murder of Laius and to the forgery of oracular sayings become clear
